The Evolution of Practical CompassionI am excited to be able to offer ways to relate to ourselves, one another, and the creatures who share our world, with greater understanding, respect, and appreciation. It is my tremendous pleasure to coordinate and lead creative, enriching educational events throughout the year, and I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with others to develop and sponsor other unique opportunities for living a more compassionate life. The approaches for compassionate interaction that I endorse on this site enrich my own relationships, and inspire hope for more mindful, cooperative, and fulfilling connections with others. Language of the Heart Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is an insightful model for verbal communication that encourages awareness of universal feelings and needs, mindful, empathic listening, and clear, honest expression. This Language of the Heart transforms communication at the personal, professional, and organizational levels into extraordinarily meaningful and uplifting experiences. Compassionate Interaction with Our Animal Friends Tellington (TTouch) Training is a compassionate approach to the care and education of animal companions that enriches the lives of animals and their human guardians alike. TTouch offers pet guardians positive, practical tools for developing a special partnership with their animal companions, based on understanding and mutual respect. The Tellington TTouch techniques and philosophy allow for a nonverbal, visceral experience and expression of empathy for all Beings, beyond words, language, and thought. Together, NVC and TTouch represent a translation of hopes and ideals into concrete actions that can transform our lives and our world. I invite you to join me in exploring the possibilities for developing Practical Compassion. Angana Shroff, MA, (Communication Development and Disorders) ![]()
The Legendary Dog of Tibet's Monastic Communities This site is graced with images of my young Tibetan Spaniel, Ch. Bahadur, Canine Good Citizen, Certified Therapy Dog, and Legend in His Own Mind. According to legend, Tibetan Spaniels turned the prayer wheels for the monks, in addition to their jobs as bed warmers, watchdogs, and companions. I, however, believe that they made a far more significant contribution. In caring for these delightful little dogs, and in taking pleasure in their joyful antics, the monks could expand their experience of practical compassion. Like his forebears, Bahadur inspires everyone he meets to open their hearts, and by his example, shows how to live joyfully. ![]() (c)2007 Angana Shroff Website Design by |
